DUKAN DIET → RECIPES

Here are some ideas and recipes that I really like for the attack phase :

Chicken spread :

Some “chicken ham” ( I know, I know, it’s not Ham, but I can’t remember the word… u_u ) ; curry and pepper ; low-fat no-flavor yogurt .

there is pretty much no accurate measurement. Just put the chicken in a chopper, chop until it looks like crumbs, had some curry and a little bit of pepper, mix. Then had some yogurt, one tablespoon at a time so you can figure out the concistency you like.

Tuna spread :

Some canned tuna ( stored in water, not oil ) ; some capers ; low-fat no-flavor yogurt.

Same recipe than the chicken spead, except that you might also need to chop the capers !

BOTH are delicious on a Dukan crèpe !

how to make one ? Super easy :

you need to mix : 1 egg ; 2 tablespoons of oatbran, 1 tablespoon of wheatbran ; some low-fat no-flavor yogurt or a little bit of skimmed milk ; salt and pepper . Then, put in a really hot pan that has a tiny bit of oil in it, let it cook, flip it when it’s lightly brown and let the other side cook as well…

That last recipe is THE BASE of Dukan diet.

and the Chicken spead is one of my ultimate favorite, so fresh and yummy, taste like a fancy dip *.*

DUKAN DIET

First off, I’d like to say that I am in no way a professional nutritionist, nor I am a doctor. Diets are to be taken seriously and this one is no different than any other.

So, what is the Dukan Diet. Well, it is apparently the number one diet in France and it seems to be taking over world-wide because of Kate Middleton’s statement about it. Basically, it is a protein based diet design to make you lose wait in an efficient way without you feeling like you are starving yourself.

You can find most of the information about the diet on this website, which is the official one, brought by Doctor Pierre Dukan :  http://www.dukandiet.co.uk/ but what you need to know, mainly, is that :

 

A method for losing and stabilizing your weight in 4 phases

4 phases which occupy the dieter from day one so that they never again feel like abandoning the diet. 4 phases, from the strongest, most supported and effective, to the most open and stabilizing. 4 phases to be carried out successively in order to reach the ideal weight target: lose weight naturally, rapidly and stabilize for good.

 

1 – A brief and headlong ATTACK phase with immediate results. During this phase, the diet is made up of 72 high-protein foods enabling quick weight loss.

2 - A CRUISE phase leading to the True Weight. During this phase, the diet alternates Pure Protein days (PP phases) and Proteins accompanied with 28 recommended Vegetables (PV phases).

3 - A CONSOLIDATION phase of 10 days per kg lost which prepares for the return to a balanced diet. Monitored freedom with a target of establishing this freshly conquered and still vulnerable ideal weight. This phase sees the gradual return of pleasurable foods with two festive meals.

4 - A definitive stabilization phase based on 3 simple, concrete, easy but non-negotiable measures. This phase is both the easiest and most essential in our slimming method because 95% of people who follow a diet put back on the weight they have lost.

 

You NEED ( NEED, emphasize this word ) to read the entire book / websites explanations if you feel like trying this method. Knowing what the 4 phases are is not enough, really not.

 

This diet has been pretty controversial in France, mostly on non-accurate accusations, such as “ Doctor Dukan has been recommending this diet to pregnant women…” which he has not. The diet is actually recommended to women that have had a baby, have stopped breast-feeding and are now willing to lose some weight, there’s a difference. ( and seriously, WHO on earth would go on a diet while pregnant ? that’s common sense, isn’t it ? )

It was also said to be dangerous, that girls and women were losing their period over that, that it was bad for you digestive system… thing is, if you do it the right way, it is safe but a lot of people have apparently decided to do the ATTACK phase for over a month and damaged themselves. Yes, the Attack phase is the one where you lose the quickest, it’s super efficient and a real motivation BUT it is not meant to last more than a week, ever ever EVER. No matter how much wait you want to lose. I had over 100lbs in my goal weight and yet I only was on ATTACK for 6 days…

40 minutes workout

I spent the last 40 minutes doing cardio while watching an episode of “I used to be fat” and during the all thing I was telling myself : I won’t quite until it’s over, I won’t, I want to be able to say I used to be fat… I want my fat years to be part of my past, no my future…

I think I’m going to do that everyday from now on :)

DUKAN DIET → ATTACK PHASE

R U L E S :

No longer than a WEEK. this is your health that is as risk here, the Attack phase is harsh.

it is compulsory to drink AT LEAST 2 litres of water every day. because you’re eating only proteins and it is one of the hardest thing for your body to handle, you need to help you kidneys and drink drink drink.

you need to add 2 tablespoons of oatbran and 1 tablespoon of wheatbran to your diet. Eating it daily is going to help your metabolism with all the proteins. It will also fill you up and it’s a great base for most of the recipes. If digestive problems occur, you need to lower the amount of oatbran ( going down to 1 tablespoon is enough, most of the time )

Here’s a least of what you can eat without restrictions :

Lean beef

Lean veal

Horse meat

Offals and gibblets ( not sure about my translation here.. basically livers and such )

Fish and seafood, surimi

Poultry ( but nothing that has a flat beak, like Goose or Duck )

Rabbit

Ham ( without the fat )

Eggs ( both parts, white & yolk )

Dairy ( skimmed, non-fat… no more that 800grammes / day )

Protein powder

BUT ALSO :

Sweeteners, vinegar, Dijon mustard, spices, pickles, oignons, lemon juice, salt, soy sauce, paraffine oil, coffee…

You also need to do some SOFT “workout” for at least 30 minutes / day. Examples ? Go for a walk !
